John Starkey, President of North America Family Care brings with him over 20 years of general management and marketing experience, working for industry leading companies such as Danone, Mars Wrigley, and General Mills in senior leadership positions. John is a classically trained marketer and has a proven track record of leading business breakthroughs by driving superior strategies, marketing execution, and consumer-focused innovation. In his most recent role as President/GM of Danone’s Beverage Creations Business Unit he drove topline, bottom line, and share growth of the portfolio as well as launched Stok RTD Coffee’s first Super Bowl ad.
As President/GM of Danone’s plant-based business unit he drove topline growth and a turnaround share performance of the portfolio in 2022. Prior to that, in multiple roles at Mars Wrigley, he drove the development of multi-year innovation pipelines in support of portfolio strategy and ignited profitable growth in mature categories. He has also been behind many legendary media campaigns throughout his career and was directly responsible for establishing the Skittles NFL partnership and securing the first Wrigley Super Bowl advertising placement. His work on Extra Gum won numerous awards including 3 Effie awards, and his work on Skittles and Starburst won 3 Cannes Lions in a two-year period, while delivering topline, bottom line, and share growth for those businesses. He is passionate about building teams and growing talent and served as the executive sponsor for Danone and Mars Wrigley’s African American ERGs.
John holds a BA in Economics from Oberlin College, and an MBA from The Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
